Training Summary
Working in the community is above all about making relationships with others and through that relationship communicating ideas and thoughts. It really does not matter what medium is used as the end result tends to be the same. As we base our everyday relationships on mutual respect and tolerance, our relationships within in a community arts group are no different. A healthy dose of common sense and humour will go far. However, awareness of certain issues both cultural and political is vital when working with community groups.
This training resource will examine the community music group in not only a mental health but a multiple and learning disAbility context also. There are crossover techniques when working in all these areas, which are very useful. This resource is intended as a guide towards the techniques and issues surrounding community music making. It is only a starting point, as ultimately each individual community group will adopt its own ways of working.

Monitoring Sheet
Monitoring sheets are extremely useful for recording information about the session on the spot. However, if they are filled out in detail, they can often act as full reports in themselves.

Teacher Training Resource Pack for Moor End Community Primary School - NC Key Stage 2 Music
This resource will enable staff at Moor End Community Primary School to examine teaching strategies that will allow them to deliver aspects of the Key Stage 2 Music syllabus more creatively. The resource is also aimed at staff for whom music is not a specialism and would need guidance in classroom based facilitation techniques as opposed to the instruction based approach they already use. This pack accompanies a CPD training session, where all the issues raised in the resource can be discussed.

Music Technology in Prisons
This project at Werrington YOI is at the half way stage at present. It seeks to examine and measure both the benefits of using Music Technology and its legacy as a Participatory activity in a Prison environment. This work is part of a larger project run by Sonic Db. The project is currently being externally evaluated by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport and the lead researcher is Dr Andrew Miles of Manchester University.
